The exhibition named "Vasily Sumarev. The Master and His Pupils" has opened in the Belarusian National Art Museum. The works by Vasily Sumarev, a renowned Belarusian artist and teacher, side by side with his contemporary followers' art are on display. Vasily Sumarev is one of the most famous artists of his generation of 1960s. In 1965 he founded an art school and heads it through 1990. His art school received numerous awards and its graduates became well-known artists, designers, teachers and art critics, and who work nowadays not only in Belarus but in France, the Netherlands, the USA and other countries. Vasily Sumarev still involves himself in the process of bringing up young artists. These days he chairs the juries of various republican and international youth art exhibitions. The current exhibition, which is on through February 15, 2010, encompasses the art of 30 artists, including works by Andrei Zadorine, Roman Zaslonov, Igor Barhatkov, Katsiaryna Sumarava and Marta Shmatava.
